Most people think that church is a place for 'holier-than-thou' religious fanatics. They're right! People like this need to come to church because they obviously haven't understand what Christianity's all about. If they had, they'd have dropped their holier-than-thou attitudes and put their hearts right with God!
We at Collier Row Gospel Hall are simply a group of believers who love and follow the Lord Jesus. Our ultimate authority is the Bible, and our ultimate aim is to apply it to our lives. For Jesus said,
"Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25)
Jesus also warned that,
"... [whoever] hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
(Matthew 7:26-27)
... a matter of opinion? ...
Most people have some kind of opinion about Christianity. Some have decided it's not for them; others that they don't like the sound of it; and more still that they've "been there and done that" (or know someone else who has). The real question, however, is this: does God exist? And at the end of the day, there are only two options: either he does or he doesn't. Both possibilities are, in some respects, frightening, and both are claims to knowledge.
Why not therefore think the unthinkable and concede that your current impression of Christianity could be mistaken? After all, if you're anything like we are, it wouldn't be the first time you'd been wrong about something! So, why not take the plunge and join us one Sunday evening? What's the worst that can happen? If nothing else, you'll be sure to receive a warm welcome.
